Probate can seem a daunting process for an appointed Personal Representative. We can make the process easier to navigate by helping the Personal Representative understand and work through each of these steps:
Marshalling the Assets. The assets of the deceased person must be identified and valued.
Payment of Creditors. Legal notice must be provided to creditors, and valid debts must be paid.
Payment of Taxes. Any required income and estate taxes must be calculated and paid to both federal and state governments.
Court Filings. All necessary filings must be made with the probate court.
Distribution of Assets. All remaining assets must be distributed in accordance with either the instructions of the deceased person or (if there is no will) Minnesota law.
